Художественный руководитель Театра «У Никитских ворот» Марк Розовский сообщил в интервью ТАСС, что в новом сезоне труппа представит зрителям спектакль «Амадей». Большинство театралов знают и любят постановку пьесы Шеффера в прочтении МХТ им. Чехова, где роль Сальери сыграл Олег Табаков, а Моцарта – Сергей Безруков.

Розовский отметил, что не собирается соревноваться с МХТ, а уже тем более самим Олегом Павловичем. «Будем воспроизводить эту историю так, как мы можем сегодня ее прочесть», – отметил худрук. Также Розовский подчеркнул, что противостояние «моцартианства» и «сальеризма», гения и посредственности является извечной темой искусства и никогда не потеряет своей актуальности.

Марк Розовский, к слову, был постановщиком и версии спектакля, показанной на сцене МХТ, тогда для работы его пригласил Олег Ефремов. Розовский отметил, что для него работа над «Амадеем» является своеобразным долгом памяти как Олегу Табакову, так и Олегу Ефремову, благоволившему к нему и позволявшему работать в стенах МХТ.
